FAQ: Chaosmos... The Temple!
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

How does shipping work?

My fulfillment partners charge shipping by weight (only) in most countries. In the USA it goes by a combination of weight and volume. I am paying most import/tariff fees. Shipping is charged separately, and we have decided to charge shipping this month (rather than waiting several months).

Backers in the USA and Canada who pledged for the base game or Collector Edition will have the option to pay a premium to have the base game shipped immediately (with the rest of their items shipping later). Email us if you are outside USA and Canada if you want a shipping estimate to have your base game shipped from the USA immediately.

What comes in the Expanded Box?

The Expanded Box comes with the Temple expansion, the fold-out board, and inserts inside the box to organize all game components. It ROCKS to be able to put Chaosmos and the expansion in one place together, all sorted nicely. Plus, you finally won’t have to take your envelope box apart in order to put the game away! A note on the Expanded Edition box: Jamey Stegmaier has a great blog post about why big boxes cost so much. It’s worth a read, but the primary point is that they take up costly space on pallets when shipping the games to fulfillment centers. https://stonemaiergames.com/one-box-to-rule-them-all/

Is the Mimic alien supported in the expansion?

Yes, it is now an add-on. This edition will be punchboard, so if you have the old alien you can decide if you want to upgrade it to punchboard or not. Collector and Limited tiers will get the new alien automatically. Original Collector Edition backers from the first Kickstarter will need to add it if they want the Mimic alien character board as a punchboard item rather than their original version, which is cardstock.

If I pledged for the Collector Edition + Expanded, do I get the Limited Edition content?

Yes, you automatically get the Limited components (the new flags and Temple Clock wood stand etc.).

NOTE: If you already own the Collector Edition (Eternal Guardian) and want to buy the content for $5, please email us ([email protected]) with your Collector Edition box sleeve number and we’ll handle it.

Is my wood clock from the Collector Edition compatible with the Temple Events?

Sort of. We’re working to make the wood clock stand compatible with the Events, so you would slide the Events into the stand and put the clock on top of the stand. It isn’t perfect but it works.

The expansion also comes with a replacement (punchboard) Temple clock.

If I get the Expanded Edition, does the smaller Temple box come inside?

We decided not to produce surplus small boxes, since nearly all backers surveyed said they would not want it. The Expanded Edition giant box art will also feature the Temple art on the back or inside of the Expanded box, so you would not be losing out on art.

Is the Temple Expansion box (not the large box) the same size as the original Chaosmos box?

It will probably be smaller. The decision to make the larger box came after some of the early graphics had already been created. If you are getting the giant box in Expanded Edition, you won’t receive the smaller box.

I already have the Collector Edition. Do I get the new flags, wood clock stand, etc. from Limited?

If you did not buy Collector during this Kickstarter then you’ll need to email us for the content. There’s a $5 warehouse fee (since each of those items cost us $.70 to have the warehouse add them to your box). Email [email protected]

Does the fold out board fit into the original base game box?

Yes, if you remove the cardboard insert. The board is 11.5x11.5” when folded and will fit.

The Collector Edition is sold out. How can I get it?

You can’t, but feel free to email us ([email protected]) if you have questions.

I am getting the Expanded Edition (or a higher tier). How many game boxes are coming, if I'm going to put it all inside the one box anyway?

Backers in general have stated that they don’t want to receive an extra box. The base game will come in its own box since it is already shrink wrapped. We have decided not to produce surplus expansion boxes for Expanded Edition backers. Email us if you have questions ([email protected]).

What languages is Chaosmos available in?

The base game has been translated by fans into Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. Many translators have offered to assist with the expansion. You can play with card sleeves and slide the translations into the cards.

However, no printed copy of the game is planned outside of English at this time.

Why are there so many tiers and why are they capped with limited quantities?

We underestimated demand. We sold out of the Collector Edition in the first few hours of the campaign, so we made a similar tier called Limited Edition. But other than those, there’s really only 3 primary tiers:

There’s the base game, the expansion, and a bundle that puts them both together in a giant box (Expanded Edition, which also adds a fold-out board). We only have 700 copies of the base game for sale, so we have to cap tiers and not allow the base game as an add-on during the KS, so we didn’t promise more copies than we have. There’s no cap to how many orders we can take for the expansion or other new content.

I am only getting the Chaosmos base game. Do I have to pay extra for immediate shipping?

No - if you are only getting the base game and would like it shipped immediately, please email [email protected] so that we can lock your order/address and charge your card, and Joey will send it out ASAP.

Will one set of card sleeves be enough for everything in the Limited Edition?

Absolutely. All the cards, all the events, all the stretch goals.

Last updated: March 16, 2020 20:17

The Collector’s Edition already has the flags, right? So just the bases are needed, not the flags+bases?

Collector people from this campaign already receive 98 flags (7 per alien), and need only the bases. Collector people from the previous campaign will receive the new 21 flags if they request it via email.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
